We engage in a variety of fundraising activities every year.
These are held once or twice a year in Langcliffe Village Institute from 2 pm to approximately 4:30 pm, normally in May and September.
Choir members volunteer to bake sweet and savoury delicacies. There are some excellent bakers in our ranks! Tea, coffee and soft drinks are also available. Choir members then also staff the event on the day and there is usually a tombola or other fun game, with prizes generously donated by the choir. On occasion we have also been known to break spontaneously into song!
We hold a raffle at each concert, with prizes donated by choir members and local businesses. Previous winners have been delighted with luxury hampers, artisan cheeseboards and fine wines!
We welcome singers from outside the choir to join us in a glorious day of singing. These events usually take place during the early part of the year, a wonderful antidote to the winter blues! Past events have led to performances of pieces such as Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man, Opera choruses and Handel's Messiah. In 2024 we did Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
Friends get a host of benefits, chief among which is the warm glow that comes from supporting a fabulous local organisation! For £20 a year you get:
This is open to Friends and supporters as well as members. For £12 a year you get the chance of winning £20 in a prize draw every other month. Membership is capped at 200, but is always much lower than this, so the odds of winning are rather good.
