These are held twice a year in Langcliffe Village Institute from 2 pm to approximately 4:30 pm .
Choir members volunteer to bake cakes, scones etc and prepare other delicacies such as trifles, and tea, coffee and soft drinks are also available. Choir members then also staff the event on the day and there is often a small raffle or sale of bric-a-brac. This year the events will take place on August 8th and September 19th.
There are five prizes, and 500 raffle tickets are printed and distributed to choir members to sell for £1 each. Tickets are also sold at the Langcliffe Teas and at our concerts. The prizes usually comprise cheese and wine, a Christmas Champagne Hamper, a meal or other voucher and the top prizes are worth £100 and £200. The draw takes place at the last rehearsal before our December concert
Come & Sing Events
These take place usually during the early part of the year.
Past events have led to performances of pieces such as the Armed Man,
Opera choruses and Handel's Messiah
A subscription of £12 a year is paid for the chance of winning a prize of £20 every other month. The number of entrants is limited to 200 though in practice it’s a lot fewer than that so the chances of winning are pretty good.
