We are a community choir based in Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. We welcome anyone who wants to sing choral repertoire. All you need is enthusiasm and commitment!
There is no audition to join us, and you do not have to be able to read music.
We are having an open rehearsal on Tuesday 5th December. Come along and meet us and sing some carols! It's free! 7.30 - 9.30pm in St John's Methodist Church Hall, Settle Parking is available outside the hall (please use marked bays only) or on the street. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served in the break |
We are a registered charity and raise money for our music-making through ticket sales, choir membership fees and events, as described on the Fund-raising Activities page.
The choir is divided into four voices – soprano, alto, tenor and bass. If you’re not sure which voice you are, come along anyway and our Musical Director will help you to find your correct place in the choir. We currently have over 60 members, so we are able to perform large and exciting choral works, such as Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem and Brahms' Requiem. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings in Settle during term time. For further details see Rehearsals and How to Find Us.
We give three concerts a year, at Christmas, Easter and in the summer. Details of forthcoming concerts can be found on our Season page. We regularly organise Come & Sing events where singers can come and enjoy the wonderful experience of performing musical masterpieces. Past events have included Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man and Handel's Messiah. Our next Come and Sing event is on 27th January 2024, when we are performing choruses from Carmina Burana, accompanied by several percussionists. Please contact comeandsing@langcliffesingers.org.uk for more information or to book a place.
We often perform with other musicians, including professional soloists, organists, brass players and percussionists. For very special occasions we engage a full orchestra - most recently, our dear friends Settle Orchestra, with whom we share several members.
